AMAZING BELLS - Two Guitar Duets |
£3.50 |
|
Here are two highly entertaining duets for players of Grade 4 - 5 standard. Both works are a set of variations. The first is based on the traditional tune Amazing Grace, with the melody taken up by each instrument in turn and with perorations into the minor and various descants. The second is drawn from the lute duets of Thomas Robinson (1603), his variations of Twenty waies upon ye Bells. The original is a repeated ground bass built on a simple bell chime, with running variations in the solo part. In the guitar duet version the two instruments combine the ground bass into a double set of running divisions, making a much richer and more complex piece of music. Composed by Ian Gammie, both pieces have bass D tuning for the guitars, and each duet lasts about three and a half minutes. Grade 3 -4. Score & parts. |
