THE SIEGE OF NEWARK - John Jenkins - 4 Guitars |
£6.00 |
|||
This is a 17th century musical representation of a genuine battle that took place during the English Civil War in 1644. It has a commentary underlaid in the score to explain how the drama unfolds (this can be read out in dramatic fashion in performance if desired). The two upper guitar parts are often quite high and parts can be ordered for requintos if preferred. Guitars 3 and 4 have low D tuning. All four guitars have plenty of thematic material, from bugle calls, whistling bullets, wounded soldiers, canon fire and cavalry charges. Arranged by Ian Gammie, thematic material is given to all four parts, which require players of equal abilities. The work is in two movements, Pavan and Galliard, duration six and a half minutes. Please specify if you require transposed requinto parts, they are not supplied in the basic set of parts. |

CONCERTO in D Major - J.M. Böhm (4 or more Guitars) |
£8.75 |
|||
Written by J.M. Böhm (c.1710) and arranged by Ian Gammie. Two soloists and an accompanying ensemble (ideally of 6 to 10 players) are the intended forces, though a minimalist version can be made by a quartet. There is an easy ripieno part for inexperienced players, and the Continuo Guitar needs to read fluently with Bass D. There is a set of parts for string trio with double bass for those who have a chamber orchestra at their disposal. The work is more in the form of a large trio sonata in four movements than a conventional concerto. The two solo parts need good players but are not excessively difficult. Four movements: Grave, Allegro, Andante, Minuet. Duration 11 mins. |
